Femininity: the quality of being female, womanliness.
A cross-cultural upbringing provides many privileges while simultaneously paving the way for confusion and discontinuity on many topics. What makes someone feminine? I’ve struggled with the answer to this question as it applies to me. So as an anthropologist I decided to use photography to create a visual reference of how femininity is understood and practiced by various people.
This body of work is a documentation of individual notions of femininity, a library of a sort, albeit a one small at the moment. The collection of images I create and curate aim to collectively rouse within a viewer questions about their own expressions and understanding addressing Femininity. It’s my hope that this work creates space for more people to question assigned identity.
