in her series fishbowl on fire, artist sophia winnikoff explores the burning experience of isolation as a social creature, with interest to the mind, body and what does and doesn’t flow between. this explores the difficulties of loss, mental illness and the human psyche. the experience looking out from windows to a seemingly still world while knowing the act of looking and experiencing quarantine from the inside. while previously solely working in analog photography and writing, she explores the intertwining of analog, newer technology and repetition. the adaptations of life taken to create reflect that of unlearning self imposed rules—yearning to find beauty in the mundane and smoke.
